Security Threats Target Women's Soccer Players in Sweden

Multiple threats have been directed towards women's soccer players in Sweden, particularly in the Damallsvenskan league. The latest incident has raised concerns among league officials and clubs, prompting police involvement and a call for heightened security measures. The situation, which has already been distressing for the Rosengård team, now affects all players in the league.

Rosengård has received threatening messages multiple times this year, but the latest incident concerns all players in the Damallsvenskan league.

This development has prompted the league organization Elitfotboll dam (EFD) to react and contact the clubs, as reported by Aftonbladet.

"We have informed everyone, and then each club must work with their security teams and local police to handle the situation," said EFD's general secretary Tomas Hoszek, adding, "It has already been quite uncomfortable for Rosengård, which has been experiencing this for a while. This affects everyone, no doubt."

Throughout the season, a player at Rosengård has been threatened multiple times. In May, she received a death threat via YouTube, and as recently as this week, new threats emerged.

The latest threat was different and aimed at all players in the Damallsvenskan league.

"We feel obligated to inform everyone about this since it no longer concerns just one of our players," said Rosengård's chairman Håkan Wifvesson to Aftonbladet.

Hoszek emphasized that the matter is being taken seriously. The latest threat message has been reported to the police.

"We do not know more than that it is a serious threat that has escalated. We must take this seriously; it cannot be dismissed," said the EFD official to SVT.

Several Norwegian players participate in the Damallsvenskan league. It is unclear how the threat situation will impact the season's conclusion.
